Your Baby
While continuing to plump up, the baby is sensitive to the world around him,
responding to light, sounds, and making faces.
You
Now you know what this "nesting" thing is really all about. You actually do
get this strange sensation to prepare everything for the baby. So, what better
time to make a plan? Determine with your partner how you'll be getting to the
hospital--the best route depending on how long it will take day or night; if
this is not your first child, line up childcare; and get those bags packed (one
for you, one for your partner, and one for baby)! Here are a few ideas of what
to include in your bag:
- Music (ipod or CDs)
- Cell phone
- Names and numbers of family and friends
- Credit card (You may want takeout.)
- Hair dryer and accessories (It's nice to take a shower and actually "do
your hair" before you leave the hospital. It may be the last time for a
while.)
- Your usual toiletries (Don't forget the lip balm.)
- Robe
- 1 or 2 night gowns (Unless you like the "johnny look.")
- Slippers
- Socks
- A book or magazines
- A journal or notebook (Start writing things down as soon as you can.
Even if it's just a few notes or a list of feelings or events. You and your
baby will be so happy that you did!)
- A loose-fitting outfit to wear home. (You'll still have quite a belly
when you leave the hospital; maternity pants and a top from a few months
back should do the trick.)
You should also keep a copy of the contact information for your hospital and
caregiver near the phone (and in your purse) and install your infant car seat in
the back seat of your car. | |
