Your Baby
About the size and shape of a medium shrimp, week ten marks the end of the embryonic period and the embryo becomes a fetus with all vital organs and weighs in at about .18 ounces.
You
You most likely have your first prenatal doctor’s appointment this week. If possible, have your partner join you for this one. The doctor will calculate your due date, give you a physical exam, take a few standard tests, ask questions to find out if you are at risk for any genetic diseases, and talk with you about other prenatal tests that you may want to have. At this appointment, you’ll also listen to your baby’s heart beat for the first time.
Everybody’s different, but, most likely, you’re still not showing. Your pants are getting uncomfortably tight around the waist, though. Brace yourself, you’re about to enter the dreaded “nothing fits, but I’m not big enough for maternity clothes” phase. The solution? Well there is no solution, but loose tops a simple rubber band looped around the button of your pants will hold you over for a little while.
