Dads & Lads are encouraged to sign up for a special St. Patty’s Day running event and help support Prostate Cancer. Of course the Lassies are welcome too!
It’s the first annual “Kiss Me I’m Irish” Run™ – to be held on Saturday March 12th at Rio Vista Community Park in Peoria Arizona. Celebrate St. Patty’s with a 17K or 8K run/walk on a flat scenic race course along the greenbelt beside Skunk Creek. Or bring the kids and pets for the 4K “Four Leaf Clover Run/Walk”.
Race start is 8:17 a.m. There will be Chocolate Kisses for everyone at the finish line, plus Irish Music and Green t-shirts for all pre-registrants. The first 1,000 to register for the 17K and 8K will receive green technical shirts made of bamboo - soft, absorbent, breathable, thermo-regulating, hypoallergenic and eco-friendly!

**This concert is geared toward school groups.** The Knoxville Symphony Orchestra is pleased to invite your students to Very Young People's Concerts (formerly Family Concerts) for young people. The KSO will offer this opportunity for preschool, kindergarten, first and second grade students on Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at 9:30 AM at the Tennessee Theatre. Meet the Orchestra is a unique educational program, designed for preschool, kindergarten, first and second grade students. Students will learn about the families of instruments in the orchestra and how they work together to create a symphony. Students will meet the KSO’s animated character Picardy Penguin who appears on a huge screen above the orchestra and interacts with the maestro, orchestra, guest artists and audience. Pieces featured will include the family concert theme song “Music Can Make Your Life Complete”, “Washington Post March” by John Philip Sousa and Leonard Bernstein’s Candide Overture. Lucas Richman’s The United Symphony will introduce each section of the orchestra: Percussion, Brass, Winds, Strings, a special section featuring piano and harp. This piece introduces instruments by sight and sound and then shows how they work together to create the “United Symphony.” The concert will be produced and conducted by the KSO’s Music Director Lucas Richman. A special group price is available for this program. Admission for the concert is $8.00 per student and one adult for every ten students will be admitted free of charge. Upon receipt of your reservation, a teacher’s guide and CD will be sent to you to help prepare your students for the concert. These concerts are part of the Arts and Cultural Alliance’s Student Ticket Subsidy Program which provides funding for ticket costs as well as transportation fees. Click here for information about the Student Ticket Subsidy Program. Please note that you will need to apply for Ticket Subsidy in the fall if you plan to attend the concert in February. Grants from this fund are usually depleted within a couple days of the submission date. All school concert reservations must be directed to the Knoxville Symphony office. This concert will feature performances from four of the five orchestras in the Association: the Preludium, led by Erin Archer, the Philharmonia, led by Katie Hutchinson, the Sinfonia, led by Association General Manager Kathy Hart-Reilly, and the Youth Chamber Orchestra, led by Wesley Baldwin.
