Pritikin creates a camp-like atmosphere where youth ages 8 to 17 are immersed in fun, noncompetitive fitness activities, don chef's hats for "hands-on" cooking classes, and receive a fantastic education on good food and healthy living. The Pritikin Family Program...Fun, Sun & Health Every Summer. In the residential program, both parents and children learn how fun and rewarding a healthy lifestyle can be.

The Pritikin program, achieves phenomenal health and weight-loss results with children and teens. The program, universally acclaimed for its success in helping adults launch healthy lifestyles, has proven successful for youth as well. Data published in peer-reviewed medical journals have documented major improvements in heart-health factors like cholesterol, blood sugar, and weight loss.

Some children come to the Pritikin Family Program to lose weight. Others have no weight issues. All enjoy a fun camp-like atmosphere. The children develop physically, mentally, and emotionally,says Pritikin exercise coach Pedro Alipenalver. It's a beautiful thing to see. Our kids leave us knowing that exercise exercise they enjoy will be a part of their lives forever.

Each day, the kids whoop and holler their way through Cardiac rap aerobic workouts, strength training called Pump 'Em Up,dance classes, kid-friendly nutrition and cooking classes, and afternoons filled with swimming, golf, volleyball, and tennis. They enjoy delicious and filling food like chewy potato skins, icy fruit smoothies, salsa-bean burritos, and chicken pasta primavera. They're amazed that they're never hungry. Pritikin is all about eating more, yet weighing less.

In peer-reviewed studies on the Pritikin Family Program, scientists at UCLA found that in just two weeks, children ages 9 to 15:

Shed on average 9 pounds (among children needing to lose weight)
Decreased LDL (bad) cholesterol 25% and total cholesterol 23%
Lowered triglyceride fats 39%
Reduced key markers of inflammation

7:30 Breakfast:
Hot and cold cereals, egg white omelet bar, yogurt, cottage cheese, and fresh fruit like bananas, peaches, berries, and watermelon

8:15 Tennis Lesson

9:30 Cooking Workshop:
"Whipping Up Quick And Easy Snacks, Wherever You Are"

10:45 Nutrition Workshop:
"Eat More, Weigh Less"

12:00 Lunch:
Mega-salad bar, zesty minestrone soup, pizza, burritos, and fresh fruit

1:00 Exercise:
"Cardio Blast" Workout

2:00 Health Workshop:
"Taking Charge of Your Feelings and Your Food"

3:15 Fun at the Blue Lagoon:
125-Foot Waterslide!
