Here are a few insider secrets about the three boys featured in the winning entry for our Silly Holiday Photo Contest: The photograph, snapped by their mother, Kerrie Moore, was taken on a 70º F day in October. The family put a piece of clear packing tape on the flagpole at the boys’ elementary school for protection against germs. And, finally, the boys despise the old-fashioned pea coats they’re pictured in; they’re thrilled that the outerwear no longer fits.
Chelmsford residents Kerrie Moore and her husband, Michael, came up with the idea to recreate a scene from a popular holiday movie, A Christmas Story, for their annual holiday card last Christmas. They like to bring a laugh to friends and family with these cards, and this one was a huge hit.
“Everybody still has it on the fridge,” Kerrie proudly reports. “The boys absolutely hate those jackets, but they were such good sports.”
Our judges, including Boston Parents Paper staff and professional photographers, loved the classic black-and-white image, the expression on the boys’ faces, and how the “Triple Dog Dare,” line made famous in the movie was tied into the holiday greeting.
As the winner of our Silly Holiday Photo Contest, the Moore family will receive a two-night stay, meals included, at the family-friendly Purity Spring Resort in Madison, N.H., and passes to hop aboard the popular Polar Express train ride in North Conway, N.H.
Thanks to everyone who entered the contest and shared their family fun with us!
