Summer is approaching quickly, and it's time to put away the sweaters and coats and bring out fun summer clothes! We spoke with Karen Kane, fashion designer for women of all sizes and shapes, about easy breezy summer clothes and how to be on-trend this summer. Best of all, many of these pieces are available for women of every shape and size.
Parenthood.com: What colors and prints do you think are the easiest to wear this summer?
Karen Kane: Colorblocking is a great trend this season that is really simple but can make you look instantly updated. Animal prints never go out of style and are pretty easy to wear as well.
Parenthood.com: Busy moms need non-fussy clothes - which fabrics and styles do you think are best to stay on-trend and comfortable?
Karen Kane: I'm in love with our new cotton/nylon/spandex skinny jean. It's made of a fabric that is super easy -- stretchy, machine washable, travels really well, and incredibly comfortable. I'm also a huge fan of knits -- they are so cozy and can really be dressed up or down with ease.
Karen Kane: I get inspiration from a lot of sources! The easy, relaxed feeling of my line comes from living in California. We're known for our flowy, comfortable tops, which really speak to the ease, comfort, and longevity that I always hear women asking for. Personally, I love to wear really pretty, girly blouses all the time, and I think that you'll see a lot of them in the line this spring.

Karen Kane Stripe Scarf Top - This breezy top was a Parenthood.com Mom Tester favorite. Made of breezy rayon, it will be perfect for hot summer days, or a trip to the beach. In fact, wearing it makes you think of being on vacation - in a structured and pretty way.
Karen Kane Belted Dolman Dress - This dress is great for transitioning from work to picking up the kids from soccer practice. With flattering dolman sleeves and a great belted tie at the waistband, this dress is comfy and classy all at the same time.
