Developing Positive Character Traits: 3 Checkpoints

How Are You Doing?

To do a better job of developing positive character traits in their children, parents need to ask themselves some key questions about how they interact with their kids, says Harvard psychologist Robert Brooks, Ph.D., co-author of Raising Resilient Children.

  • Would I want anyone to say or do to me what I just said or did to my son or daughter?

  •  What am I trying to accomplish with my kids?

  • Am I saying or doing it in a way that my son or daughter really hears what I am saying without tuning out?
