Sundyne Corporation designs and manufactures industrial pumps and compressor products. Melissa Sisneros, senior human relations coordinator, relates that “We value diversity, and we try to accommodate the work-life balance.”

With the high demands of a manufacturing firm, flextime is primarily available for start or stop times. Sundyne contributes 80 percent toward health insurance coverage for employees, families and domestic partners, and life insurance is paid at one times an employee’s salary. A dependent care spending account enables employees to make pretax contributions from $120 to $5,000 each year toward childcare expenses. A short-term disability program allows new mothers six weeks paid time off. The company also pays up to $3,000 toward adoption. Life Choices and an employee assistance program offer counseling for family challenges.

Sisneros continues, “We have an on-site fitness center for the use of employees, spouses, adult children and retirees.” The company also sponsors employees for the Bolder Boulder and Bike to Work Day. She adds, “We have a Lunch & Learn program, too. Many focus on health and wellness or financial planning.”

“We pay for an employee to go to an accredited college to get any degree [and] at graduation, we give stock: $5,000 for an associate degree, and $10,000 for bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees,” Sisneros says, adding, “While on the program, they are eligible for paid time off during the week to study.” Sundyne offers college scholarships to children of employees planning to enroll at an accredited college.

Family events during the year include Bring Your Child to Work Day and employee appreciation days that take on a carnival atmosphere. An employee-run leisure program includes outings to Rockies’ games, Elitch’s and bowling.

Sisneros states, “This year we’re really focusing on employee satisfaction. If they’re happy here, it helps with home life.”
