Bullying Is a Serious Problem
Bullying is no longer about kids being kids. It can have long-lasting harmful effects.

  • Research has shown a link between being bullied and having emotional and academic difficulties.
  • Children who are bullied tend to have lower self-esteem and feel more depressed, lonely, anxious and insecure than children who are not bullied.
  • Being the target of peer aggression has been shown to lead to emotional problems in preschool- and kindergarten-aged children.
  • Academic problems in targeted children lead to a greater risk of truancy and school dropout.
  • Chronic bullying can lead to life-threatening consequences for some children.
