How do you afford a totally different – and temporary – wardrobe for your pregnancy?
Consider these alternatives to shopping exclusively for new clothes:
Organize a Maternity Swap
Invite a group of girlfriends over to exchange their previously loved maternity clothes for new pieces to change up their maternity look. It doesn’t matter what stage of pregnancy they’re in; everyone will need something different.
Borrow From Friends
If you’re fortunate to have a friend or family member who shares your clothing size and style preferences, ask to borrow her maternity wardrobe. You may need to fill in a few pieces, such as bras and underwear, but borrowing is definitely the most practical way to go.
Peruse Consignment Shops
Most women do not reuse their maternity clothes after a pregnancy, so those that end up at consignment shops have likely been worn for less than a year. Consignment shops are filled with one-of-a-kind pieces, which can make building a wardrobe a little more time consuming. But you’ll save a lot of money shopping this way. Earn part of your investment back on your wardrobe by consigning your own maternity clothes after your baby arrives.
