Bring joy and peace to your household via your computer this month with a visit to PlayhouseRadio.com, where tuned-in kids from infancy up to age 8 can listen to hundreds of full-length songs, create a play list of favorites and even make their own CDs. Created by a teacher and mom, Playhouse Radio offers fun and original songs in 12 categories, ranging from educational and dance to sleepy time. Easy to navigate, the site is an ad-free, kid-safe environment – there are no teenage-boy bands on this site.

At Playhouse Radio, kids listen to songs for free direct from the Web. They can sing along with the lyrics on the left side of the page or print them out. Kids can create a CD of favorite tunes to give as a gift – perfect for this holiday season. The cost is only $9.95 per CD plus $2.50 shipping and handling. The CD ships out the same day it’s created. You can also order pre-made CDs for the same price. My daughter’s favorite is the Joy and Peace for Our Children CD, which benefits the newly established Music Relief Center at Ground Zero in New York City.

Visit the site’s Workshop to discover how to whip up homemade musical instruments to play along with the songs. Parents can also order simple musical instruments, such as tambourines and maracas through the site’s Music Store, as well as purchase specially selected storybooks about music through a link to Amazon.com. Kids can further their musical education by interacting with the site’s music artists via e-mail.
