Breastfeeding and its effects on blood pressure
A new study has found that exclusive breastfeeding may also be associated with lower blood pressure for babies in their later years.
Numerous benefits have been associated with breastfeeding, including a reduced occurrence of obesity later in life and lower total cholesterol in adulthood. A new study has found that exclusive breastfeeding may also be associated with lower blood pressure in later years.
Children from two distinctly different populations were studied, but the study results were consistent: children who were exclusively breastfed as infants had a lower systolic blood pressure during their childhood and teen years. This may indicate that breastfeeding could reduce an infant’s chance of developing cardiovascular disease later in life.
